Dear Dr. Lim Sue Yee, if you're reading this, hello and good evening!!! I hope you're having a nice time wherever you are ^.^
For the past few days, we have went through career week where we were exposed with countless number of stories shared by the guest speakers. Previously, even though I knew that I wanted to be a vet, I were not able to name what kind of vet I wanted to be. After listening to the talks given by UPM Doctor of Veterinary Medicine graduates/alumni who are now successful people in their respective fields, I'm really inspired and encouraged to do my best in my studies so I can become like them one day.
On the very first day, my eyes were opened wider when Dr. Ardhy who works in the government department of veterinary services said that one the visions of the department is to attain a good care of human welfare. Before this, I thought I'm gonna work with just animals! but now I realised that veterinary is also important to the people.
Meanwhile, Dr. Paul taught us the 4 pillars of veterinary profession which are; education, statutory body, authority/services and association/fraternity.
And Dr. Bahsharudin explained his secret to success; time, passsion, discipline and patience. We should balance this four things to succeed in our lives.
The posters are really beautiful and have great messages. A round of applause to the career week's publicity team :D
That day, we were exposed with pharmaceutical, wildlife and business world of veterinary. We don't have to worry about lack of job choices after we graduate, I guess hehe..
If I'm not mistaken, this slide is shown by Dr. Melissa Phoon. I love the quote soo muchh :DD
PM's Scientific Advisor?? woahh I salute him.. :O
I want to contribute to the society like her in the future :)
My fav speaker would surely be my academic advisor, Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohamed Shariff Bin Mohamed Din. His lecture was so fun and enthusiastic that made us very spirited to work harder to reach our goals. He kept saying 'The Sky is the Limit' and it's verily true. I was in awe when he showed us the picture of him receiving a medal(or prize??) for inventing the White spot virus detector that were used widely during the outbreak.
All in all, I know now that veterinary is a tough career where we have to think about our actions thoroughly and sacrifice a lot for our patient. I want to be a veterinarian that is useful to humanity and loved by animals no matter in which field I'm gonna be in.
I also really appreciate all the dvm2's hardwork an determination to ensure us, dvm1 get to experience career week and orientation which was filled with a lot of fun.
To Dr. Sue Yee, I wish that you can share with us about ur trip to Singapore as it seems very interesting ^.^
See you again readers, xoxo
